Oblate Information for the Fifth International Congress of Benedictine Oblates

Who: Oblates who are in good health and good standing in their monasteries are invited to
apply for registration through their National Coordinators. Your National Coordinator can
be reached at the email address from which you have been contacted.

Where: the Fifth International Congress of Benedictine Oblates will take place at the
Primatial Abbey of Sant Anselmo, on the Aventine Hill in central Rome.

When: Beginning at Vespers on September 9 and ending with breakfast on September 16, 2023.

Conferences: Simultaneous translation will be provided through a commercial app
available on Android or Apple devices. You must supply your own device and headphones.

Lodging: Accommodations will be in single rooms with shared bathrooms. A limited
number of single and double rooms with bathrooms are available. They will be assigned
upon request, in the order of the date of registration, with some attention to the needs of
participants. Please note that our lodging is limited to a total of 150 participants.

Private Lodging Arrangements : Oblates may make their own lodging arrangements,
with a commensurate reduction in Congress fees, but note that September is High Tourist
Season in Rome.

Sisters of Charity : 30 rooms, private bathrooms, 1,600 feet downhill from Sant'Anselmo
Sant'Alessio : 5 single rooms, each with 2 beds, private bathrooms, 400 feet from
Sant'Anselmo
Hotel Major Aventinus : 5 matrimonial rooms, private bathrooms, 400 feet from
Sant'Anselmo

Meals: all meals will be taken in the monastic refectory of Sant'Anselmo.


Cost: €850. This will cover the cost of food and lodging from supper on September 9 to
breakfast on September 16 and all activities included in the Congress program. Those who
wish to make their own private lodging arrangements will pay €550. Please see the fee
payment below.

Registration: January 1 - June 30, 2023. Oblates must obtain registration information from

Approval: All oblates who would like to participate must acquire the prior approval of the
Director of Oblates of the Abbey to which they belong. After obtaining this approval, the
oblate who intends to participate in the Congress should contact the National Coordinator
via email (see below). The Coordinator will then reply with registration instructions.

Payments: after confirmation of registration, approved oblates will receive a link with
instructions for payment. Payment can be made with credit card, Paypal or bank transfer.

Amounts and deadlines: Those who wish may pay the €850 according to the following
deadlines:
€200 : registration fee. This amount will not be returned even in the case of
non-participation in the Congress.
€350.00 : May 31, 2023
€300.00 : August 31, 2023

Private lodger fees: Those who wish to make their own lodging arrangements will pay €550
by August 31, 2023:
€200 : registration fee. This amount will not be returned even in the case of
non-participation in the Congress.
€350 : for all meals and activities included in the Congress program
